In Victorian times loyal workers on the Netley Estate were rewarded with their own homes in the grounds. These properties are full of character and charm and occupy a pleasant position near the Hall, backing onto the central courtyard. They have been renovated and restored to provide luxurious holiday accommodation. These traditional cottages sleep between two and six people who will benefit from all the modern appliances including TV and Video, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, iron and ironing board, whilst enjoying the ambience created by features such as original oak beams and open fires. |

The Old ForgeThis single storey one bedroom property sleeps two and is sited in what used to be the estate blacksmith’s shop. Looking out onto the pretty cobbled courtyard, it is easy to imagine the sight and sound of huge carthorses coming in from the surrounding fields to have new shoes fitted to their enormous hooves.

Tithe BarnDating back to the 16th Century our Tithe Barn retains many of its original features including timber frames, which have been lovingly restored and preserved by traditional craftsmen retaining the original wood wherever possible. Tithe Barn provides luxurious accommodation to an exceptional standard for up to six people. A sumptuous spacious and evocative living space (which would once have been used to gather and store the Lord of the Manor’s share, or tithe of this tenants agricultural produce) lies at the heart of this property and images of a baronial lifestyle may be brought to mind easily when making “ the grand entrance” for the first time. The central fireplace, with its twin grates and massive stone chimney, is a particularly striking feature and this is complemented by handmade, galleried staircases in oak at either end of the living area.

Gardeners CottageThere is evidence that parts of the original Netley Old Hall – a medieval structure which was demolished over 100 years ago were incorporated into this charming property when it was constructed in Victorian times. We believe that the inglenook fire place in the living room may well be from the Old Hall and in the garden at the front of the cottage a wall of substantial old building stones was discovered during the restoration. As befits a property which used to house the estate’s head gardener – a very prestigious role in Victorian times – this cottage has magnificent views over the beautiful gardens of Netley Hall, down towards the Bluebell Walk and the woodland beyond and is sited near the old Glasshouse.

Grooms CottageSituated in the picturesque courtyard at the heart of the old farming estate, this charming property was once the home of Netleys head Groom. Appropriately, it sits alongside The Old Forge and is very near to where the stables used to be. As you tumble out of bed on a winters morning to enjoy the warmth of this cosy cottage, spare a thought for the grooms of the years gone by, who would have been up before sunrise to feed and tack up the farms heavy horses ready to start work at daybreak

Lakeview MewsWith splendid views down towards the lakes and on towards Lawley Hill, Lakeview Mews is very well sited within the main courtyard of the estate. At one time this property contained elaborate Victorian stables where the horses were treated as if they were nobility. Now this interesting property has been transformed into a luxurious holiday home for up to six people.
