Preen's
Retreat, Angler's Cottage & Artists Cottage
|
|
|
In Victorian times loyal
workers on the Netley Estate were rewarded with their
own homes in the grounds. Preen's Retreat, Angler's Cottage
and Artist's Cottage were formerly three such properties
and would have been occupied by key members of staff vital
to the efficient running of the Hall and the estate farm.
These properties are full of character and charm and occupy
a pleasant position near the Hall backing onto the central
courtyard. They have been renovated and restored to provide
luxurious holiday accommodation.
PREEN'S RETREAT has two
double bedrooms, one of which has a king size double bed.
This property also has a bathroom with shower over. The
decorative style follows an ornithological theme to reflect
the wide range of species which may be found within the
estate boundaries.
ANGLER'S COTTAGE has a
double room with a king size bed, a twin room and a bathroom
with shower over. As may be expected, there is a fishing
theme to the decor in this property.
ARTIST'S COTTAGE so
named as for many years a talented young female landscape
artist made this property her charming home - provides
a double room with a king size bed and ensuite shower
room, a twin room, a single room and a bathroom with
shower over.

Tithe Barn
|
|
|
Dating
back to the 16th Century, Tithe Barn retains many of its
original features including timber frames. Considerable
care has been taken in the restoration of this lovely old
building and its furnishings are in keeping with the period
of its construction with beautiful tapestries and rich wall
hangings. It now provides luxurious accommodation for up
to six people and a sumptuous and
evocative living space. Tithe Barn is located in a spacious,
landscaped courtyard near the main hall and has one bedroom
downstairs, one double (with king size half tester) upstairs
and a further twin double bedroom upstairs. All bedrooms
have en suite bathrooms. Special features in this property
include a central fireplace and two galleried staircases
leading to the first floor sleeping accommodation. |

Gardener's
Cottage
|
|
|
There
is evidence that parts of the original Netley Old Hall -
a medieval structure which was demolished over 100 years
ago - were incorporated into this charming property when
it was constructed in Victorian times. We believe that the
inglenook fireplace in the living room may well be from
the Old Hall and in the garden at the front of the cottage
a wall of substantial old building stones was discovered
during restoration.
With three bedrooms, all on the first floor, Gardener's
Cottage can sleep up to four people in two singles and a
double. The property has views over the gardens of Netley
Hall, down towards the Bluebell Walk and the woodland beyond.
Gardener's Cottage has full central heating, a first floor
bathroom and a ground floor shower room/WC. |

Groom's
Cottage
|
|
|
Situated
in the picturesque courtyard at the heart of the old farming
estate, this charming property was once the home of Netley's
head groom. Appropriately, it sits alongside The Old Forge
and is very near to where the stables used to be. As you
tumble out of bed on a winter's morning to enjoy the warmth
of this cosy cottage, spare a thought for the grooms of
years gone by who would have been up before sunrise to feed
and tack up the farm's working horses ready for the start
of work at daybreak. The accommodation in Groom's Cottage
is for four people and includes a double bedroom with a
king size bed and a second double room. |

|
Lakeview
Mews
|
|
|
With
splendid views down towards Specimen Lake and Oak Lake and
on towards Lawley Hill, Lakeview Mews is very well sited
within the main courtyard of the estate. Believed at one
time to have been the home of the local Master of the Hunt,
this interesting property has been transformed into a luxurious
holiday home for up to six people. Sleeping accommodation
includes a double bedroom with a king size bed and en suite
bathroom, a second double room and a further twin bedded
room. An impressively large fireplace features in the living
room, whilst a separate dining room adds to the versatility
of this house. |
| |
|
All the
above properties have central heating, fitted kitchen
including freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, TV,
video and stereo system.
